cast & crew: paradise falls
Characters
Meredith McGeachie, "Cate Banning"
Following her award-winning performance in Punch, Meredith joined the cast of the hit Showtime series The L Word, bringing to life the notorious Tonya. Other television credits for Meredith include Da Vinci's Inquest, Andromeda and Stargate: Atlantis, as well as the made-for-television movies Prince Charming and Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Mork & Mindy. On the feature side, Meredith can be seen with Matthew Perry, Neve Campbell and Dylan McDermott in Three to Tango and with Kim Basinger and Christina Ricci in Bless the Child.
Cate became a police officer when she was 25. Although a lesbian, Cate was never officially "out" at work. It was an unspoken "open secret." There were a fair number of lesbians at her station, and as long as you weren't too "in your face," everybody agreed to look the other way. What Cate couldn't look the other way from, however, was her brother, Ethan. After their mother died, Ethan moved in with Cate. He was fourteen at the tim;, she was twenty-eight. It was a practical solution, but not necessarily a functional one. Ethan has a lot of issues. Anger. Abandonment. Learning. He's got in trouble at school, and worse, with the law. Being a rookie cop with lousy shift hours has not been conducive to keeping her brother on the straight and narrow. Eventually, Cate applied for a transfer to a calmer neighbourhood, somewhere less hectic, with fewer distractions. She chose Paradise Falls. |
