Pete Braga can't remember when he stopped caring. (And he doesn't care to know.) For the longest time, the only thing Pete ever truly believed in was family. Money was something you made to lavish on your family. Power was something you sought in order to make money to lavish on your family. So what happened? His son died. His stepdaughter was murdered. His grandson is content to be taken care of by his gay lover. And his ex-girlfriend turned out to be a man…and even she walked away from him.

Perhaps it's not surprising that Pete has cultivated an active disdain for the very town that has given him everything he's ever wanted…except happiness. In his mind…they're laughing at him. They have no respect for him. Imagine, the great Pete Braga rejected by a transsexual! It doesn't get more humiliating than that. Pete resents having to work for people who don't appreciate him – so he doesn't work very hard. In fact, for the last two years he has become shameless in his disregard for the people of Paradise Falls.

He has awarded contracts to repair companies that throw huge kickbacks back to him and do very few repairs. He has slashed budgets for garbage pickup, snow removal and park maintenance, and he's pocketed the savings. He shows his power by denying it to those who need the most. (Needless to say, there's a special seat in Hell for people like Pete.)
