Here TV Adds 30 New Films to Schedule

America’s only gay TV network licenses a diverse mix of new films from Breaking Glass Pictures scheduled to debut on the network over the coming months.

November 4, 2013 (NEW YORK) — Here TV (www.heretv.com), America’s only gay TV network, today announced an exciting new slate of feature-length films that will debut on the network over the next six months. Through a licensing deal with Breaking Glass Pictures, Here TV will air films including Hollywood to Dollywood, featuring Dolly Parton, Dustin Lance Black, Chad Allen, and Leslie Jordan; the documentary Out in the Open, featuring Greg Louganis, Eric Roberts, Carson Kressley, and Josh Strickland; Nate & Margaret, with Natalie West, Gaby Hoffmann, and Tyler Ross; and two of Del Shores’s stand-up comedy films, Del Shores: My Sordid Life and Del Shores: Sordid Confessions.

"Here TV is committed to providing more of the best films, documentaries, and scripted series in LGBT premium television.  Our partnership with Breaking Glass Pictures provides Here TV access to a best-in-class, diverse LGBT library," says John Mongiardo, Here TV's Senior Vice President of Programming Operations.

A few of the new titles include:

Hollywood to Dollywood, directed by John Lavin and currently airing on Here TV, centers on twin brothers, Gary and Larry, who have written a screenplay with a perfect role for their idol, Dolly Parton. They decide to set off on a cross-country road trip to personally deliver the screenplay to Dolly herself. With a soundtrack featuring 15 classic Dolly Parton songs, this feel-good documentary follows the brothers and their band of intrepid travelers as they meet everyday Americans, dodge floods and tornadoes, and search for tolerance and acceptance while realizing their biggest dream: delivering their screenplay to Dolly.

Matthew Smith’s documentary, Out in the Open, will, once and for all, destroy the misconceptions, fears, and myths about LGBTQ people. This uplifting documentary is geared toward at-risk youth across the world as well as their families, friends, and teachers. Featuring interviews with celebrities, politicians, and everyday allies who openly embrace the LGBTQ community, this film asserts that every person is different and that all people should be celebrated. Out in the Open begins airing November 15 on Here TV.

Nate & Margaret stars Tyler Ross and Natalie West in the title roles. Nate is 19 years old. Margaret is 52. Their odd, quirky, and totally working friendship gets rattled when Nate finds his first boyfriend. Nate’s new boyfriend begins to drive him away from Margaret as she tries to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. The Nathan Adloff–directed film starts its run on Here TV November 29.

Del Shores: My Sordid Life features famed comedian-writer Del Shores (Sordid Lives, Queer as Folk) sharing the real-life stories that inspired his writing. This hilarious one-man show was recorded live during his critically acclaimed tour across the U.S. Del sets the story straight on his celebrity encounters and on what it was like growing up in the South and coming out as gay. Special features include appearances by Leslie Jordan, Beau Bridges, and many others! In Del Shores: Sordid Confessions, Shores pulls no punches as he shares his hilarious and uncensored confessions about everything from raunchy love affairs to backstabbing during his career in entertainment.
