HERE! GETS A SUGAR RUSH Critically-acclaimed lesbian television series now a part network's fall line-up

June 17, 2008 – here!, America's premium gay television network, is pleased to announce that it has acquired both seasons of the highly acclaimed, UK's Channel Four produced British series "Sugar Rush" from Sony Pictures Television.

The first season of this award-winning drama will be debuting on the network in the fall of 2008. Both seasons consist of 10 half-hour episodes. here! will be holding sneak-peak screenings of the first 3 episodes of the series for select preview audiences at several major LGBT film festivals, including New York's NEWfest in June and Los Angeles' Outfest in July.

Based on the Julie Burchill novel of the same name, "Sugar Rush" revolves around 15 year-old Kim (Olivia Hallinan) and her desperate crush on her sexy and fabulous best friend, Maria Sweet, AKA Sugar (Lenora Crichlow). Kim also must contend with her dysfunctional, embarrassing family as well as her new life in Brighton. Experiencing forbidden love (or lust) for the first time, Kim forges her own path through life. Her wry observations and bad girl ways have made her a popular anti-heroine for young British lesbians, demonstrating what it's like to be young and queer in the UK today.

"Sugar Rush" previously won the Children and Young People Award at the British Emmys in 2006 and was nominated by the British Academy of Film and Television Award in 2006 for Best Drama Series.
